THE PRINCIPLES AND THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE BB
The Objectives, Motto, Pillars, the Method and other central tenets of The Boys’ Brigade explain the Philosophy and the principles of the Organisation. The Boys’ Brigade through her diversified training schemes trains “The Boy” to become a God- fearing, disciplined and patriotic citizen that will be useful to himself, the Church of God and the society.
BB Objective
The Object of The Boys’ Brigade is the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness.
The spiritual standpoint of BB and Bible Study in the BB
Everything we do in The Boys’ Brigade is viewed from the standpoint of Christian principles. There is no ambiguity in the objectives of our organisation that makes it sufficiently clear that, we are advance Christ’s Kingdom among the Boys. Then, we are promoting the habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline and self-respect. We are to bring the Boy up to a status of Christian manhood or manliness.
As we serve towards achieving any secular objective, as varied as they have been outlined in BB scheme, the attention on the spiritual growth of the Boys is of paramount importance.
It is compulsory that a BB Company must have a Bible Study meeting at least once in a week. Here, Boys are taught from the Bible and biblical principles are inculcated into them.
Pillars of the BB
The thrust of the BB, otherwise known as the twin-pillars which is the strongholds of the BB training are: Christian Education and Discipline. On these two pillars lie the foundational elements of the organisation.
The Boys’ Brigade has a complete training scheme and method for the Youths. Our goal is the complete character and moral development of the Boy through several programmes, activities and different methods. “The Boy” is to be prepared to render selfless services to the society.
BB Motto and Logo
The BB Motto and Crest delineate the training we give to the youths. Our Motto is Sure and Steadfast. It agrees with the Crest Logo which presents (graphically) the design of an anchor, with the inscription of the motto, and “The Boys’ Brigade” on it. The motto was taken from Hebrews 6:19.
