TRAINING AND PROGRAMME PLANNING.

The Boys' Brigade, Nigeria has a very sound training system executed by seasoned BB Technocrats all over the country. Our training is very rich, well-researched and always current to provide the Nigerian youths with answers to meet the challenges of life and to enable them stand out anywhere they find themselves.

The BB Officer, who should be above 19 years of age, is a teacher. The BB is a Training School where at age 19, the Boy could be discharged ceremoniously after passing through the training successfully. Before that stage, he must have been trained to be useful for himself, his Church, his society and the entire Nation. Accurate records must be kept on the Progress Report on the Boy constantly. There are different record books for “The Boy” and for the Company.

BB has a meticulous Programme Planning Scheme which could be Annually, Quarterly, weekly or on a daily basis.

Training Courses

Aside from the Company’s weekly Training session, occasionally, Boys attend camp which could be organised by their Companies, the Group/Battalion Councils, the state Councils, the National Council or an International Camp. There are different Workshops, Seminars, Conferences and other forums where ideas are broadened and where knowledge is impacted afresh or refreshed. Such training could be for Boys called Non- Commissioned Officers or the Officers at different grade levels. The Instructors or Resource Personnel at these Trainings, Camps, Workshops, Seminars or Conferences are seasoned BB National and Advanced National Trainers and at times, professionals/specialists outside the BB fold.

The highest training course in BB Nigeria is “The Advanced National Train-the- Trainers Course.” There are varied conditions that must be fulfilled by the Officer before he can be admitted for this course. For example, he must have attended and passed the Brigade School and then, the National Train-the-Trainers’ Basic course.

Vocational Training, Training Centres & National Projects

We have different projects where vocational training programmes are carried out especially for our senior Boys. The concept is to train Boys on various technical skills. The Project centres are located at different parts of the country.
